We provide advocacy services to women and young girls who are facing or are victims of domestic and sexual violence and provide support services to help them cope with challenges. We tend to provide advocacy to women of all ages who are faced with discrimination of any form whether it is at work or at a service center. We advocate for equal opportunities for women including economic and educational opportunities.
With the COVID-19 Pandemic it became evident that women who identify as immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers or BIPOC were disproportionately impacted. This shed a light to the need for more education and outreach about public health which is culturally and linguistically appropriate. Her Safety Net provides education and outreach to women with limited communication and comprehension skills in multiple languages through videos, flyers, posters, and door-to-door outreach. We currently develop educational materials in multiple locally spoken languages that address major health problems faced by our target population including information about COVID-19, Cancer Screening, Diabetes and other healthcare issues.
We work with women who are seeking entrepreneurship skills by providing them with essential skills through trainings and seminars. We connect them with essential programs and services that are designed to help them realize their entrepreneurial goals and dreams.
We provide COVID-19 tests to the L/A community at our office location and through the mail in an effort to reduce community transmission.
We provide free tutoring services to help school age children K-12. Tutors provide homework help to students at our center.
In our effort to increase vaccination rates in Maine, we partner with local healthcare providers, pharmacies, and other community-based organizations to host vaccination clinics and provide education and outreach which fights vaccine hesitancy.
We provide advocacy for women and youth of all ages.
We hold monthly support groups at our center to share our experiences and support one another. We also learn about our rights and the resources available in our community.
We support community members in achieving their educational goals. We provide support for adults to receive their GED. We also provide college access support including enrollment, the FAFSA application, and applying for scholarships.
